3M Miniature Projector

We've seen tiny projector before but this half inch thick one from 3M claims to be capable of displaying an image some 40" (100cm approx.) in size and at VGA (640 x 480) resolution. With this specification and its small size the projector could fit into a PDA, camera or other handheld device and show very respectable images to a small audience. Furthermore, it would appear to be a seemingly excellent adjunct to wearable computers.

To achieve its miniature dimensions, the projector uses an advanced LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) imager combined with 3M optics and illuminated by LED.

3M say they will be demonstrating the projector at this year's CES (Consumer Electroncis Show) in Las Vvegas. They are already working with partners to integrate the device into products for release this year.
